Governance
SPA is a Registered Organisation under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 and is governed by an elected Council that includes some of Australia’s most prominent screen industry professionals.
Under the management of the Australian Electoral Commission, elections are held annually with Producer and Services Council representatives selected from the full Producer and Services categories. All full Producer and Services members' primary contacts are eligible to stand for election and vote.

Our Council
We are governed by an elected council comprising some of Australia's foremost screen industry professionals. Annually, we hold elections to appoint representatives from the feature film, broadcast, online, immersive media production and industry services and facilities sectors.
Kate Carnell is a company director and small business advisor, appointed Chair of the SPA Council in 2025. Kate has extensive experience and knowledge in the business sector, having run her own small businesses for 15 years before becoming ACT Chief Minister in 1995 for a five year period.
Kate completed her five year term as the inaugural Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) in March 2021.
Kate was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2006 for her services to the community.
Tracey is the Chief Content Officer for Emmy® and BAFTA Award winning film and television production company Hoodlum operating globally between Australia, the US and the UK. Tracey joined Hoodlum in September 2019 after five years as CEO of Screen Queensland and works across Hoodlum’s full development and market slates.
Tracey works on expanding Hoodlum’s global slate across scripted and unscripted television and feature film with productions currently in development with partners including ABC Signature, Fox, Peacock, Stan, Netflix, CBS International and A&E amongst others.
Suzanne is the Founder, CEO and Executive Producer of SLR Productions, a company she established in 2000 to follow her passion and love of screen content.
Suzanne has created, produced and invested in hundreds of hours of award winning content which has been exported to 160 countries. Suzanne is an Emmy Award winning producer, Winner of the Premier’s NSW Export Awards in Creative Industries, a twice recipient of Screen Producers Australia – Children’s Producer of the Year, and Winner B&T Women in Media Producer of the Year as well as many other awards that acknowledge and celebrate her achievements as a Producer.
Aaron Fa’Aoso first came to prominence in 2004 with his performance as ‘Eddie’ in the critically acclaimed SBS mini-series, R.A.N., for which he received nominations for an AFI Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama and a LOGIE Award for Most Outstanding New Talent.
Aaron is a four time Deadly Award nominee for Male Actor of the Year for his performances in R.A.N. and East West 101.
Greg is the CEO of Fremantle Australia, a world leader in creating, producing and distributing content. Greg joined Fremantle in 2007 and was COO of the organisation before being appointed Fremantle’s CEO in 2022.
He assumes full responsibility for the company’s overall management and business performance including leading the financing, development and production of programming across a wide range of genres. Throughout his tenure at Fremantle Greg has played an integral role in top-rating and iconic programs such as Neighbours, Wentworth, Heartbreak High, Grand Designs as well as the Fremantle unscripted catalogue programs.
Lisa Scott is one of Australia’s leading producers and founder of Highview Productions. Her latest production Speedway screened at the 2023 Adelaide Film Festival, along with the short film Blame The Rabbit which premiered on opening night and shared the audience award for Best Short Film. Her recent drama series The Tourist premiered on BBC1 & Stan in early 2022 to critical acclaim and winning three Awards including Best Mini Series at the 2022 Golden Nymph Awards.
She also produced A Sunburnt Christmas, in association with Every Cloud Productions, which premiered on Stan in December 2020, and was nominated in the 2021 AACTA Awards and the 2021 Screen Producers Australia Awards for Best TV Mini Series or Telefeature.
Nick is the MD and co-founder of CJZ. He has a unique and very broad background in TV – as a producer and network executive at both cable and free-to air networks. His credits span comedy, light entertainment, drama and factual production as Producer and Executive Producer. Nick is known as Mr Fix-It in the office as he is quite handy with the tools. Mr Murray also looks after the office fish tank.
Michael Tear is a seasoned media executive with expertise in film and television production, finance, and business strategy. As Co-Founder and CEO of WildBear Entertainment, he has led the company’s growth, securing major international partnerships and high-profile commissions.
With over 250 hours of film and television credits, Michael has produced and executive produced award-winning content for Netflix, ABC, History Channel, Discovery, Arte, ZDF, and National Geographic. He was also an Executive Producer on The Babadook.
Michael’s recent credits as an Executive Producer include: Every Little Thing (Sundance) Rachel’s Farm (Madman); PNG: The Road to Independence (ABC); The Last Daughter (Netflix); Stuff The British Stole S1 & S2 (ABC, CBC); Runn (Netflix); Joh: The Last King of Queensland (Stan) The Colleano Heart (NITV); The Raftsmen (SFF)
Michael continues to drive WildBear’s expansion, leveraging global co-productions, strategic financing, and innovative storytelling to position the company as a leading force in the screen industry.
Kylie is the Co -CEO and Producer at Goalpost Pictures and is one of Australia’s most experienced & respected producers; with her Co CEO Rosemary Blight, they set the creative direction on all projects. They are known for attracting major talent on & off screen and for discovering & creating opportunities for emerging, and diverse voices across film & TV.
Kylie was Producer on New Gold Mountain (SBS, All3Media) directed by Corrie Chen and Winner of the ADG and AWG awards for best mini series, the Mini-series Fighting Season (Foxtel) starring Jay Ryan, plus 52-part series Lockie Leonard (Nine Network, BBC). As an Executive Producer her credits include returning series Black Snow (Stan, Sundance Now and All3Media) starring Travis Fimmel , Top End Bub (Amazon, ZDF), a creative spin-off series from Goalpost’s highly acclaimed feature film Top End Wedding and two season of Cleverman for the ABC.
Kylie’s credits across feature films include producing Amazon’s first Australian local original film Five Blind Dates, Global box-office feature film success The Invisible Man (Universal Pictures co-pro with Blumhouse; written and directed by Leigh Whannell starring Elisabeth Moss), the Critically acclaimed adaptation of Holding The Man (Ryan Corr, Sarah Snook and Guy Pearce); directed by Neil Armfield, and the box office smash hit The Sapphires. She also produced Upgrade written and directed by Leigh Whannell.
Kylie is a member of the Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was previously on the Board of Screenwest.
Edwina is responsible for assessing and developing all Australian and NZ projects for theatrical release. Prior to this she ran programming and strategy for ABC2 then the ABC COMEDY channel across television and iview. Edwina was previously a Commissioning Editor and Executive Producer for ABC Factual & Documentaries and spent a number of years with the Specialist Factual Department at Channel Four UK. She began her career working with writers, directors, designers and actors at talent agencies including William Morris Agency UK (now WME), Curtis Brown UK, and HLA Australia. Roadshow’s recent titles include THE DRY, PENGUIN BLOOM, THE DROVER’S WIFE THE LEGEND OF MOLLY JOHNSON, SERIOUSLY RED, BLUEBACK, SWEET AS, OF AN AGE, THE NEW BOY, FORCE OF NATURE: THE DRY 2, MIDNIGHT OIL: THE HARDEST LINE, SKATEGOAT, UNBREAKABLE: THE JELENA DOKIC STORY and BETTER MAN with ADDITION to come.
Georgia Mappin is the Managing Director of Haven’t You Done Well Productions (HYDW), the Melbourne-based comedy studio behind Aunty Donna and the Grouse House Distribution Network. She has built HYDW into a multi-brand, creator-led comedy ecosystem spanning television, film, digital series, podcasts, live touring, and branded entertainment.
A champion of platform-agnostic production, Georgia specialises in understanding how audiences discover, engage with, and sustain relationships with comedy across emerging and traditional channels. Under her leadership, HYDW has demonstrated the global potential of Australian comedy, reaching tens of millions worldwide and proving that creator-led models can succeed across broadcast, subscription, digital platforms, and live experiences.
Georgia now brings this strategic, industry, and audience-focused expertise to her role on the Screen Producers Australia Council, representing the digital and online sector and advocating for the future of creator-led Australian screen storytelling.
Catherine has had over 25 years’ experience in the media space in a wide range of roles including channel management, distribution and as an executive producer. Since joining Northern Pictures in 2014, she has had a slate of over 600 episodes commissioned in Australia and internationally.
Catherine was previously General Manager, SVP, for Nickelodeon Asia where she oversaw distribution, production, programming and marketing. Before moving to Asia, Catherine was the Managing Director for Nickelodeon Australia where she was responsible for launching Nick Jnr., as well as delivering the #1 Channel and online portal for kids.
Kurt Royan is Managing Director of The Post Lounge, a film and television post production and VFX facility that specialises in Feature Films, TV Series, TVC, Corporate Videos & Branded Content, and Animation.
Beginning his career as an Editor, Kurt has been in the post production and technology landscape for over 15 years. Holding the position of Operations Manager at The Post Lounge for four years, Kurt was responsible for the day-to-day performance and effectiveness of all staff and systems within.
Ever ambitious, he continued to impress by designing and implementing the custom-built facilities in Woolloongabba (QLD) and the chic, new space in Collingwood (VIC). An expert in workflow management and pipeline development, Kurt regularly creates bespoke technical workflows on a per project basis, designed to maximise quality and reduce overheads.
Kurt continues to expand The Post Lounge’s unique brand of creative production and personal service into new locations and sectors alike.
Aven Yap, the 2025 Council Diversity Mentorship recipient and Ones to Watch alumnus, is a classical pianist turned filmmaker.
Born in Malaysia and raised in Brisbane, Aven has worked across a diverse slate spanning Asia and Australia. Aven's credits include true-crime documentaries, multilingual factual series and his award-winning short film Piano Mums (St Kilda, Cinefest LA, Queen Palm International Film Festival) has a feature adaptation in development with investment from Screen Queensland and Screen Australia.
Aven was one of six writers selected by the Australian Writers’ Guild to participate in the 2018 Equity Foundation’s inaugural Talent Diversity Showcase.
