Screen Producers Australia (SPA) has today announced the launch of the inaugural SPA Producer Fellowship, a new professional development and mentoring program designed to support Australia's leading mid-career screen producers to grow their businesses, expand international partnerships and develop projects for the global marketplace.
The six-month Fellowship has been created for accomplished producers who have already demonstrated success through internationally recognised film and television credits and are ready to take the next step in building sustainable production businesses.
Through mentoring, curated networking and exclusive industry access, the Fellowship will help participants strengthen international relationships, connect with potential collaborators and position Australian stories for global audiences.
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said Australia had exceptional producing talent, but there was a clear need to support producers at the critical stage between mid-career development and established international business growth.
"Australian producers are creating world-class screen stories, but success in today's market increasingly depends on building enduring international relationships and identifying new opportunities beyond our borders.
"The SPA Producer Fellowship has been designed to give accomplished producers the connections, mentoring and strategic support they need to grow sustainable businesses and take Australian productions to the world."
Successful Fellows will receive a range of professional development and market access opportunities including:
- Six months of one-on-one mentorship
- Participation in an online European co-production incubator
- Participation in Global Connect, SCREEN FOREVER's exclusive curated networking event with Australian and international producers
- Curated one-on-one meetings with international guests at SCREEN FOREVER
- Early access to Partnerships Forum and Pitch Meetings at SCREEN FOREVER
- Complimentary access to SPA's Masterclass series
- Introductions to key industry partners
- Amplification of their professional profile across the wider screen industry
- 50% discount on a Gold Coast 3-Day Badge for SCREEN FOREVER.
Applications are open to Australian mid-career producers who have at least two lead producer credits on projects that have achieved significant national or international recognition and who are currently developing a project seeking an international co-production partner.
Applications close at 11:59pm AEST, Sunday 6 September.
