Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is deeply saddened by the passing of acclaimed producer and filmmaker Bettina "Tina" Dalton. 

A pioneering figure in Australian natural history filmmaking, Tina's remarkable career spanned more than three decades and saw her bring distinctly Australian stories and perspectives to audiences around the world. Her extensive body of work included acclaimed feature documentaries Every Little Thing, Playing with Sharks and Rachel's Farm, alongside numerous natural history productions for Australian and international broadcasters. 

Tina was also an accomplished screen entrepreneur and business leader. As a Principal and Executive Producer of SPA member WildBear Entertainment, she played an important role in building what has become of one Australia's largest independent factual studios. 

Tina was a valued and engaged member of the SPA community, sharing her experience and expertise with fellow producers and supporting the next generation of Australian screen practitioners. Whether speaking at industry events such as SCREEN FOREVER, mentoring emerging producers through initiatives including Ones To Watch, or contributing to SPA's broader advocacy efforts, Tina was a generous and committed supporter of SPA and the independent production community. 

SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said:

"She was a formidable producer and business leader, a passionate storyteller and a great champion of Australian factual and natural history production. Through her work, Tina took Australian stories to audiences around the world while helping pave the way for the producers and filmmakers coming through behind her. 

"Tina's contribution to our industry has been immense and she will be deeply missed by all of us at SPA."
