Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is proud to congratulate Greer Simpkin on receiving the FIAPF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film in the Asia Pacific Region.

As Co-Managing Director of Bunya Productions and Bunya Entertainment, Greer has produced a host of beloved screen stories in Australia and overseas. Since founding Bunya over ten years ago, she has produced award-winning feature films, including ‘Wolfram,’ ‘Kangaroo,’ ‘The Deb,’ ‘Sweet Country,’ and ‘The Drover’s Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson.’

Greer is the producer of all four series of the television drama ‘Mystery Road,’ the ABC Comedy ‘In Limbo,’ SBS/NITV mini-series ‘True Colours’ and the ABC series ‘Ladies in Black.’ The ‘Mystery Road’ franchise has won a total of 15 AACTA Awards and a TV Week Logie for the Most Popular Drama. The series’ second season became the highest rated Australian drama on free-to-air television in 2020, with the third series becoming the highest-rated drama on ABC iView in the platform’s 18-year history.

Their slate of feature films has premiered at a top international film festival to incredible acclaim, including the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and the Platform Prize at the Toronto Film Festival. Their screen stories are also celebrated locally, becoming the most nominated production company in an AACTA Awards year in 2022 with 29 nominations.

Bunya Productions’ slate has been consistently recognised at the SPA Awards, winning awards for productions including 'Mystery Road,’ ‘Sweet Country,’ ‘In Limbo’ and ‘High Ground.’

‘We congratulate Greer on this well-deserved recognition of entrepreneurial leadership and creative excellence. Over her entire career, Greer has played an integral role in amplifying the visibility of Australian identity on our screens. Through Bunya Productions, Greer, alongside David, has created some of our country’s most celebrated and authentic screen titles," said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.

Previous Australian recipients include George Miller and Emile Sherman, acknowledging the talent and dedication of screen industry trailblazers in producing high-caliber screen content for Australian and international audiences.

Greer will receive the award at the next Asia Pacific Screen Awards Ceremony, to be held on November 27, 2025.
